Van Zijl Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Van Zijl Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Manufacturer: Imbuko
Intense fruity explosion in the glass. An absolutely typical Sauvignon Blanc from the "New World". Expressive aromas of gooseberry and tomato leaves. On the palate, the wine is very delicate, aged only in stainless steel tanks and for a short time on fermentation lees. It is therefore intended to be a fresh expressive bomb that goes well with the pool or as a cooking wine, but also with serious dishes. Fresh mussels, parsley, cream, two decilitres of this wine and you have a fantastic dinner and a lack of wine that will make you open a second bottle in no time.

About the winery
Imbuko Winery is located on Uitkyk Farm near the town of Wellington in the heart of the appellation of the same name. Founder and owner Theunis van Zijl has been in the wine industry for 30 years. Imbuko means "admiration for" in the Xhosa language, which is one of the eleven official languages of South Africa and was the native tongue of South Africa's most famous citizen, Nelson Mandela.
The winery has evolved from a small producer of ciders and wines mostly for resale to in-house producers, which now produces world-class wines. The grapes from their vineyards come not only from the farm in Wellington, but also from the Western Cape's most important wine regions: Stellenbosch, Paarl, Worchester and Robertson.

Wellington is a major wine region in South Africa's Western Cape, approximately 60km from Cape Town and 55km from the Atlantic coast, where the cold Antarctic Benguela Current brings refreshing winds in late summer and helps to moderate high temperatures.
The local mountains are a major influence on the types of wine produced in Wellington. While daytime temperatures can be quite high, cooler air from the mountains drifts into the valley at night, leading to significant temperature differences between day and night. Weathering and erosion of the surrounding mountains have enriched Wellington with a variety of soil types. Vines on the lower terraces thrive in well-drained shale, while higher up the slopes there is sandstone and decayed granite. These dry, less fertile soils are particularly suited to vine cultivation.
