Good Hope Wines brings the finest selection from South African vineyards to the Czech market. Founder Ivo Zrcek has lived in South Africa for almost 30 years, supplying Czech crystal glassware to local wineries. Through this, he has built strong friendships with producers and gained a unique, firsthand insight into the local wine scene. Just as Czech crystal glassware travels to South African wineries, we bring their wines back to Czechiain return. We select them with the utmost care to ensure they reflect the true character and diversity of South African vineyards: from full-bodied red varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinotage, to crisp white Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.
Africa had attracted Ivo Zrcek since the days when freedom was a forbidden word in the Czech Republic. In 1998, he made his dream come true. He left his established business at home and headed to South Africa with a shipment of Czech glassware. Over nearly three decades, he has built a thriving company in the Western Cape focused on importing glassware, becoming a supplier to most of the well-known South African wineries.
Although Ivo is now a resident of South Africa, he regularly returns to the Czech Republic, bringing along carefully selected wines from winemakers with whom he has long-standing partnerships. This is how the Good Hope Wines brand was born, bringing authentic South African wines with a story to the Czech market. The entire company operates under Ivo's direct leadership, reflecting his personal passion and deep knowledge of the South African wine industry.
