Hasher Family Wines Cyriel Cabernet Franc 2023

Hasher Family Wines Cyriel Cabernet Franc 2023

Manufacturer: Hasher Family Wines

This Cabernet Franc is a layered and complex cool-climate red with an exceptional structure and a silky texture. The bouquet offers an enticing aromatic profile of violet, Damask rose, and vibrant red cherry, complemented by distinctive notes of wet gravel and subtle aniseed spice. On the palate, the wine is initially elegant and approachable, revealing a generous mouthfeel with a perfect equilibrium of freshness and weight. A vibrant natural acidity carries through the entire profile, leading to a long, fruit-forward finish that showcases the vintage’s remarkable purity. This sophisticated Cabernet Franc gained its refined depth through 12 months of maturation in seasoned French oak barrels. The wine has excellent potential for further bottle aging; its optimal cellaring period is estimated at 8 to 12 years, during which its complexity and tertiary notes will continue to develop harmoniously.

About the Winery

Hasher Family Wines was established in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in South Africa by a family driven by a deep respect for nature and a long-term vision for the land. Set in a cool maritime climate, the vineyards benefit from ocean influences, diverse soils and a balanced ecosystem, allowing the fruit to develop slowly and express clarity, freshness and elegance.

The winery follows a philosophy of gentle farming and careful craftsmanship. By focusing on site-specific varieties and limiting intervention in both vineyard and cellar, Hasher creates wines that reflect their origin with precision and authenticity. Sustainability, biodiversity and a thoughtful approach to viticulture are at the core of their identity and future direction.

Terroir

The Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, home to Hasher Family Wines, lies close to the southern coast of South Africa and is shaped by its strong maritime influence. Cool ocean breezes flow inland from the Atlantic, moderating temperatures and extending the growing season. This slower ripening allows grapes to retain natural acidity while developing layered aromas and refined structure.

The landscape is defined by rolling hills, varied elevations and ancient decomposed granite soils that provide excellent drainage and subtle mineral expression. Differences in slope, exposure and altitude create a mosaic of mesoclimates, enabling each vineyard parcel to express its own character. This diversity, combined with a balanced ecosystem, forms the foundation for wines that are precise, elegant and deeply connected to their origin.
