Imbuko Wines from South Africa

Imbuko

Imbuko Winery is located on Uitkyk Farm near the town of Wellington in the heart of the appellation of the same name. Founder and owner Theunis van Zijl has been in the wine industry for 30 years. Imbuko means "admiration for" in the Xhosa language, which is one of the eleven official languages of South Africa and was the native tongue of South Africa's most famous citizen, Nelson Mandela.

The winery has evolved from a small producer of ciders and wines mostly for resale to in-house producers, which now produces world-class wines. The grapes from their vineyards come not only from the farm in Wellington, but also from the Western Cape's most important wine regions of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Worchester and Robertson.
